I wonder whether the person who wrote this piece knows that there was a period of time when there was a Colony of Vancouver Island and an essentially unorganized mainland, and then pre confederation there was the United Colonies of Vancouver Island and British Columbia. It may have been unusual for two colonies to have one stamp, but in that year, it became a single colony and that was its name so it ought not to seem unusual. By the way, I too think this article should have a different name. I would make the changes, but as I am not familiar with philately, it would be better done by someone who is.
