[edit]A somewhat premature New Year's greeting
[edit]John Vanderlyn, Ariadne Asleep on the Island of Naxos (c.1812), Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts |
Best wishes for a safe, healthy and prosperous 2022. | |
Thank you for your contributions toward making Wikipedia a better and more accurate place. BoringHistoryGuy (talk) 20:30, 26 December 2021 (UTC) Moral lesson: John Vanderlyn was an American painter who studied in Paris, and his life-sized Ariadne Asleep on the Island of Naxos was one of the first large nudes exhibited in the United States. Peddling the poison as well as the cure, this overtly sensuous work was presented to the public as a moral lesson on the consequences of lascivious behavior. Visible in the distance is the ship of Princess Ariadne's secret lover, Theseus, for whom she has betrayed her people by helping him to escape the Labyrinth and slay the Minotaur. Ariadne's bliss will come to an end when she awakens from her post-coital reverie, only to discover that the faithless Theseus has sailed away without her. |
@BoringHistoryGuy: Thanks, and Happy new year to you as well!

Maui County Police Department moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Maui County Police Department. Unfortunately, it is not ready for publishing because significant portions have been removed as copyright violations. Your article is now a draft where you can improve it undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 01:30, 15 April 2023 (UTC)
New Jersey State Golf Association moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, New Jersey State Golf Association, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 10:05, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Category:14th-century painting stubs
[edit]A tag has been placed on Category:14th-century painting stubs indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 05:37, 2 July 2023 (UTC)
Disambiguation redirects
[edit]Please stop removing hatnote redirects to disambiguation pages—i.e. redirects using the (disambiguation) qualifier—as you did at Crubeen, Ireland (diff). These redirects are used intentionally to indicate that the link is meant to go to the dab page and is not a mistake that needs to be fixed. This is a housekeeping device that saves the time of other editors who repair ambiguous links. The relevant guideline can be found at WP:INTDAB. Thanks. —ShelfSkewed Talk 17:16, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I dd not know. Wll do. Thanks for educating me. TiMike (talk) 17:46, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
- No worries. It's a pretty niche guideline. Thanks for understanding. —ShelfSkewed Talk 18:29, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
- You're still doing it. Please stop. You're just wasting your own time and the time of other editors. —ShelfSkewed Talk 02:38, 20 January 2024 (UTC)

MOS and coordinates
[edit]I notice that you are adding a lot of coordinates, usually D.ddddd° (presumably from OSM?). I just thought I'd mention that WP:OPCOORD and the operational consensus prefers a lower level of precision, either D.dddd° (for UK locales) or D°M'S" (for the rest of the world). D.ddddd° gets into the actual measurement error/false precision of online mapping services. Abductive (reasoning) 07:08, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
- I do enjoy adding coords. I can switch to D.dddd°
