I have double checked the spelling of his name in a Tibetan dictionary, and this is correct. --Nathan hill 14:57, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Are there two different autobiographies?

This one: manuscript Secret visions of the 5th Dalai Lama (engl. and german), or as is it called at Amazon Secret Visions of the Fifth Dalai Lama: The Gold Manuscript in the Fournier Collection Musee Guimet, Paris (Paperback) by Samten Gyaltsen Karmay (Author) and this one: Two extracts from the autobiography of the Fifth Dalai Lama called Dukulai Gosang, Volume Kha, Lhasa Publication taken from the Homepage of The 14TH Dalai Lama.

About the second one: [1], —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.202.60.13 (talk) 10:03, 6 September 2008 (UTC) Information by Googlebooks [2] -- 212.202.60.13 (talk) 10:08, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

[3] "Although rumor had it that Drakpa Gyaltsen and the fifth Dalai Lama were on bad terms, there was no any actual frictions between them, as is evident from the biographies of Penchen Lobsang Choekyi Gyaltsen, the Fifth Dalai Lama and Trulku Drakpa Gyaltsen. In his autobiography, Drakpa Gyaltsen mentions that he received many teachings from the great Fifth Dalai Lama, and also invited him to his residence and had excellent opportunity to attend on him with high reverence and spent the whole day in conversation with him."

Re-incarnations

This informations belongs here, too, I think: Anti-Shugden Page "Due to his connection with political powers, he [Namsey Norbu] manipulated and managed to place his son in the list of candidates for reincarnation of the fourth Dalai Lama, Yonten Gyatso (1589-1616). Nevertheless, his rival candidate, Ngawang Lobsang Gyatso (1617-1682), was recognized as the true reincarnation of the fourth Dalai Lama. Drakpa Gyaltsen’s mother Lak Agyal therefore forcibly proclaimed her son to be the reincarnation of the Trulku Gelek Palsang, and he thus got the name Trulku Drakpa Gyaltsen."

The Anti-Shugden Page has vanished.

Title

  • [4] Judging from the title of the book the 5th Dalai Lama has been called "Sprul sku gZims Khang gong ma" (meaning the tulku of the upper residence (of Drepung).

I don't know where to add this information within the article.

Plagiarism

Much of this article is lifted directly from the Samten G. Karmay article it cites. However, quotes are often not in quotation marks.

This article should be based on a broader base of works, and authors should always indicate direct quotes with quotation marks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.206.235.149 (talk) 03:12, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
