West Papua is the English name for West Papua and has been for over forty years; irrespective of whatever Indonesia calls it; this is NOT an Indonesian language version of Wikipedia.
Papua is the name of New Guinea, the Island. Both halves, not one half.
IF you wanted to use the Indonesian name then you need to use the entire name which is Propinsi Papua Indonesia. There is NO such thing as 'Papua Province', that is pure fiction in any language.
I was satisfied to call it Indonesian Papua Province, or some suchness hoping people would be able to guess West Papua was meant, but as the subject is brought up; the correct name for English users to be able to identify the region is West Papua.Daeron22:16, 7 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
